ADMISSION FORMS FOR 2008-9 ACADEMIC YEAR ON SALE

Admission application forms for the 2008-2009 academic year are now on sale. A set of forms, which can be obtained from the cash office at the main campus or downloaded online costs GH¢50.00 and GH¢70.00 for foreign students.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An applicant must submit the following:
1. A completed application for admission form and a non-refundable application fee of GH¢50.00. Foreign students' application forms cost GH¢70.00.
2. An official results slip or certificate(s).
3. If the student is currently enrolled in another institution, a transcript from the previous institution should be sent directly to the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs). It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for transcript(s) to be mailed and to ensure that they arrive promptly. Hand delivered transcript(s) are not acceptable.

First Degree Programme

Five main categories of candidates are considered for admission to first degree programmes in the University.

1. Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE): Passes in core English, core Mathematics, and either core Integrated Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an aggregate score of 24 or better.

2. General Certificate Of Education: Passes, at least, at credit level in 5 subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in the GCE Ordinary Level and 3 passes at the Advanced Level of the GCE. One of the Advanced Level passes must be grade 'D' or better.

3. Mature Student's Entry Requirement (MSER):Candidates must not be less than 25 years old. Candidates will be required to pass a mature students’ entrance examination conducted by Central University College. An access course would be organized for candidates who need it, before the examination is conducted.

4. Professional Qualification:

Candidates with 5 GCE 'O' level Credit passes or 6 SSSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus any of the following qualifications may be admitted to Level 100.

a. Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) from an accredited institution.
b. Foundation and Intermediate levels of professional certificates i.e. CIM, ACCA, CIPS, CA (Ghana), LCC, etc.
c. Private Secretary Certificate.
d. RSA Stage II (5 passes) and Stage III (3 Passes).

5. Entry requirements for applicants with Diploma Qualification:

Candidate with the basic qualification at the GCE 'O' Level or SSSCE plus any of the following qualifications may be admitted to level 200 or exempted from some relevant courses:

a. HND (good class)
b. Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration from a recognized University or its equivalent professional certificate e.g. ICA (Ghana) Part II, ACIB (Intermediate).
d. Diploma in Bilingual Secretaryship from an accredited institution.
e. Diploma in Theology or Religious Studies from an accredited institution.

6. Foreign Students

Foreign students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those mentioned above. However, they must show evidence of proficiency in English.

7. Certificate 'A' teachers with 3-year Post Secondary and relevant GCE 'O' - level / SSS passes may apply for direct entry into Level 100.

Application forms
The application forms for the undergraduate and graduate programmes are usually sold at the Cash Office at the main campus of the University at Mataheko, Accra. A set of application forms, admission requirements and prepaid EMS envelopes cost ¢500,000.00. Payments should be in bankers draft only. Foreign students application forms cost $70.
