DEPARTMENT OF PENTECOSTAL STUDIES

The Graduate programmes offered in this department are:

M.Phil (Pentecostal Studies)

A two year course designed particularly for those who have a good honours degree in Theology and wish to do advanced work in Pentecostal Studies. It is a valuable preparation for the teaching of the subject at an advanced level, and also as a solid foundation for doctoral level studies. Teaching takes the form of both of individual supervision and attendance at lectures and classes. Advance knowledge of New Testament Greek and a working knowledge of Biblical Hebrew are required. The degree is awarded on an examination and thesis. M.Phil. candidates will be required to offer at least eight papers and in addition present a thesis of not more than 50,000 words. The research papers may form the basis of the student’s dissertation.

M.A. (Pentecostal Studies)

The course provides an opportunity for advancement in Pentecostal Studies within the limits of what can be done in twelve months. M.A. in Pentecostal Studies candidates will be required to offer eight papers and in addition present a thesis of 20,000 words. This M.A. is related to the M.Phil. in Pentecostal Studies (see above) and covers part of the ground covered by the M.Phil. Students who were initially registered for the M.A. may, with the approval of the Board of Graduate Studies, subsequently transfer to the M.Phil.
