FACULTY

The MBA programme boasts of faculty at the cutting edge of research and practice in their fields. Coming from both national and international sources, our lecturers and facilitators are established academics and industrialists who bring to bear their extensive knowledge and experience on their courses. Our MBA faculty members are known internationally for their achievements in research, teaching and consulting, and are uniquely positioned to relate leading edge concepts and techniques to the business challenges facing modern organisations.

GRADING SYSTEM

The MBA programme recognizes superior academic achievement, and requires that students meet certain minimum performance standards in order to continue the program. All students should be aware of the strictly enforced Code of Ethics that sets norms of acceptable behaviour in satisfying course requirements.

MBA courses are graded on a traditional letter-grade system of A through F. For the avoidance of doubt a ‘Pass’ in a course shall be grades from A to C.
The letter grades carry the usual point values A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0.

Interpretation of Grades

A = 80% and above
B = 70% - 79%
C = 60% - 69%
D = 50% - 59%
F = Below 50%
I =  Incomplete
X= Absent from Final Exam
Z= Withdrawn

Academic Withdrawals

In order to progress and graduate on the programme students will have to obtain at least a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.0.

Students are to note the following:

1. Grade ‘D’ in any course requires a resit of the examination.
2. Grade ‘F’ means that the student must retake the entire course
3. A pass in a resit examination is equivalent to a maximum grade ‘C’
4. A failed resit examination means that the student must register for and retake the course.
5. All resits shall attract an approved fee.
6. All retake courses shall attract pro-rata tuition.

FACILITIES

  • Library
The Library is stocked with a good number of volumes relevant to MBA students.  The university also subscribes to some international journals, periodicals and newspapers, and these will be increased to provide adequate access to all students on the programme.
  • Computers and Information Technology

In keeping with the university’s philosophy of a fully integrated information technology-learning environment, several personal computers with access to the World Wide Web will be available for the exclusive use of MBA students.  Learning assistance will also be provided in the more common business applications and statistical tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SPSS, and SAS.

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS

Our students will be raised as business leaders.  We strongly believe that all successful graduates of the programme will be able to market themselves in the country, within the ECOWAS sub-region and anywhere else in the world.  Graduates from the programme will be in the forefront of those managing the emerging economy.

CAREER ADVICE AND SUPPORT

In order to take full advantage of the emerging opportunities mentioned above, there will be an ‘in-house’ career development service that will be a fundamental aspect of the MBA programme to formulate plans for the student‘s future career and take positive steps to achieve career goals of the student.
