ACADEMIC VACANCIES
Central University College, Ghana, is the biggest private University in Ghana with over 3400 students and three schools, the School of Business Management and Administration, the School of Theology and Missions, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. From October 2006, the University will inaugurate its fourth School, the School of Applied Sciences, to offer the following degree programmes:
• Bachelor of Architecture
• BSc in Civil Engineering
• Bachelor of Nursing
• Doctor of Pharmacy
• BSc in Physician Assistantship
Applications are therefore invited for the following positions in the School of Applied Sciences with effect from October 2006:
1. Department of Natural Sciences:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers with considerable expertise and research experience in the following:
i. Chemistry
ii. Physics
iii. Biology
iv. Mathematics
v. Biochemistry
2. Department of Civil Engineering:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers and practicing professionals with solid academic backgrounds in Engineering and related fields.
3. Department of Architecture:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers with considerable expertise and research experience in Architecture, with special emphasis on
i. Interior and Furniture Design
ii. Housing
iii. Community planning
iv. Building Maintenance an Conservation
v. Real Estate Development
Applicants must be members of the Ghana Institute of Architects or other related professional bodies.
4. Department of Nursing Studies and Practice:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers with considerable expertise and research experience in all aspects of Nursing
b. Practising Nurses and other qualified Health workers may also apply.
All applicants must be professional members of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Council.
5. Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers with considerable expertise and research experience in all aspects of Pharmacy
b. Practice-based professionals with strong academic backgrounds (Minimum of a Masters degree) from academia, industry, Hospital Practice and the Pharmacy regulatory environment are invited to apply for positions in:
i. Pharmaceutics
ii. Pharmacognosy
iii. Pharmacology / Clinical Pharmacy
6. Department of Physician Assistantship Studies:
a. Professors, Associate professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers with considerable expertise and research experience in medicine, as well as Medical professionals in the following areas are invited to apply:
i. Human Anatomy
ii. Psychiatry
iii. Child Health
iv. Parasitology and medical entomology
v. Community Medicine
vi. Microbiology
vii. Reproductive Health
7. Department of Environment & Development Studies:
Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers with higher degrees in environmental management and related subjects. Candidates should be familiar with ISO14001 or similar environmental management systems and strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Database management and GIS experience.
The person appointed should have academic background in the following areas among others:
- Agriculture
- Banking & Finance
- Environment
- Forestry & Wildlife
- Local Government or District Administration
- Water Resources Management
- Mining & Manufacturing Industry
- Regional Economic Development Systems
- NGO Community
8.Department of Communication Studies:
Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers with solid academic backgrounds, considerable and practical experience in:
