510 Exegesis of the Gospels
Extensive
translation in the Gospels. Exegesis of selected portions
with emphasis on major synoptic discourses of Christ.

520 Exegesis of the Epistles
A
detailed study and exegesis of the Greek Text of the selected
portions of the epistles with emphasis upon the problems of
grammar and interpretation.

530 New Testament Theology
This
course seeks to introduce the student to the developments
and contexts of the emergence of the theological themes of
the New Testament. Emphasis will be placed on the continuity
and discontinuity between New Testament Theology and Old Testament
Theology, and the peculiar nature of New Testament theological
themes as expression of the Christian Experience. The following
themes will be explored: Sin, Jesus as Messiah, Fulfillment
of the Old Testament prophecies, the People of God (the Church),
the Kingdom of God, and Future Hope. Special attention is
paid to the main themes of Pauls doctrine from the biblical
theological perspective.

New
Testament historical backgrounds and archaeology, including
a study of the religious developments, literature, geography
and cultural setting of Judaism and the Hellenistic world
at the time of Christ and the early church.

550 Textual Criticism of the New Testament
The
origin and history of textual Criticism. Study of the relative
value of manuscripts and the examination of textual theories.

560 Greco-Roman Religions & NT
An
analysis of the Greco-Roman religions, the mystery religions,
magic, astrology, and the beginning forms of Gnosticism for
their relevance in better understanding the New Testament.
